Faculty Benefits

Insurance

The College of Medicine provides clinical faculty, appointed at 0.5 FTE and higher, GatorCare Health Insurance (for themselves and spouse/domestic partner and children up to age 26) and a basic level of Life Insurance. Those appointed at 0.75 FTE and higher receive a higher level of Life Insurance and Long-Term Disability Insurance as well. These plans are provided at no bi-weekly cost to the employee, as the premiums are employer-paid. Each of these plans begins on the employee’s date of hire.

Retirement

Additionally, clinical faculty and basic science faculty (appointed at any FTE level) participate in a 403(b) retirement plan, receiving a 5.14% employer contribution on top of their base salary. (Salary limits apply). Employees are also required to make a 3% (pre-tax) contribution to these accounts. Further optional contributions may be made into both the 403(b) plan and the 457 plan.

Leave

Faculty are provided vacation and sick leave on a bi-weekly basis, as well as four December Personal Leave days each year. Part-time faculty receive leave in direct proportion to their FTE percentage. For more information about leave please see the following site – Leave https://benefits.hr.ufl.edu/time-away/.

Malpractice

While malpractice insurance is provided to faculty members, it is not included in the benefits package. Rather, it is administered by the Self-Insurance Program. For more information, please refer to the following links –
