New ID Badges
New ID badges planned for UF Health faculty, staff and volunteers
UF Health is rolling out a new UF Health ID badge for faculty and staff to wear over existing IDs that will serve as our public-facing introduction to patients and visitors — and each other.
This larger “overlay” badge will fit over your current UF Gator1 ID cards, which will continue to serve as smart cards that can be swiped (building access and financial transactions).
The new IDs will display our unified brand name — UF Health — and will more clearly feature the wearer’s name, credentials , title and will reflect either “University of Florida” or “Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinics, Inc.” beneath the name and title. The new badge design will help clearly identify each person by their name and role. Guidelines for certifications and credentials will help keep the display simple to understand.
Our goal is to improve the experience for our patients and visitors and help us present ourselves in a more consistent and clear way. Plus, the IDs will also reflect that we’re all part of the UF Health family. This is an exciting priority for us, now that we have rebranded to UF Health, have introduced new wayfinding and signage on our main campus and have been reinforcing hospitality and service behaviors.
Shands employees began the process in May at their Wellness Events, where over 3,400 faculty, staff and residents took their photos for their new badges.
The College of Medicine is the first of the Health Science Center colleges to take part in this effort to ensure that all of our employees are identified in a consistent fashion to our patients and visitors. Each of your departments will be contacted to schedule blocks of time and locations for employee photos. Dates will be scheduled in various locations in an effort to make it easier for employees to take a few moments during their workday to take the photo. Throughout December 2016, a photographer will be available in the Founder’s Gallery of the Academic Research Building. The December Schedule can be located at december-schedule. Employees within the North Tower, Medical Science Building, Academic Research Building, Communicore, Dental Tower, Harrell Medical Education Building, and the Sheperd Broad Building will use this location. Alternate sites, such as the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Institute will be scheduled after the beginning of the year for employees that are in remote locations.
Employees will need to present their UF Gator1 ID card before their photo is taken. If the Gator1 badge needs to be replaced due to wear, the employee will be issued a new Gator1 card at the time their photo is taken. The new “overlay” badges will be printed at a later date and distributed through department administration.
New COM-HR employees can obtain their ID badge overlay from the HSC Gator1 office.
