SPI/Reclassification

Special Pay Increase or Reclassification with Pay Increase Requests for TEAMS Employees

Departments should submit the following information to the listserv COMFS-SPI-RCL@comfs.ufl.edu

  • Special Pay Requests for Additional Duties
    • A completed Salary Increase Request Form that includes sufficient justification to warrant the requested increase
    • Updated position description with “tracked” changes (using a WORD document)
  • Special Pay Requests for Market Equity
    • A completed Salary Increase Request Form that includes sufficient justification to warrant the requested increase
    • Any supporting documentation of internal or external benchmarks(i.e., national or regional salary comparison that is NOT supplied by employees)
  • Special Pay Requests for Counter Offer
    • A completed Salary Increase Request Form that includes sufficient justification to warrant the requested increase must include information regarding the salary being offered and the prospective employer.
    • Attach supporting documentation of the offer that you want to counter (i.e., offer letter, email, etc.)
** The College of Medicine does not permit counter-offers for TEAMS/USPS employees being considered for an intra-college lateral, reassignment or promotion opportunity.
  • Special Pay Requests for Temporary Additional Duties
    •  A completed Salary Increase Request Form outlining the new temporary additional duties in the “justification” section. Include the reason the duties should be considered temporary (for example, you have an employee on LOA who this individual is covering for)
  • Reclassification with Pay Increase
    • A completed Salary Increase Request Form that includes sufficient justification to warrant the requested increase
    • Updated position description with “tracked” changes (using a WORD document)
    • Indicate in the email how long the employee has been performing additional duties. (UF requires a minimum of 6 months before the reclassification will be considered)
    • List a comparison of the incumbent’s highest education level & years of experience to the minimum requirements of the new position

Requests for counter offer will be considered at the time of the outside offer

Requests for Temporary Special Pay will be considered at the time of the assignment

Increases for reasons other than counter offer or temporary increase will be reviewed once per month after the first day of the month in which the request was received.  Therefore, a request submitted on January 2nd would not be reviewed until after February 1st   .

Departments/work units will be notified of the status of their requests following the Office of the Dean’s review. A request may only be effective after all required approvals have been obtained. College of Medicine departments/work units also must include such approved requests in their respective annual budgets for the next fiscal year.
